NOT MY WILL — CHAPTER ONE“The Silence Nobody Heard”Amara was only nineteen, but life in Abuja had already taught her more about pain than she ever imagined. She looked like a normal girl on the outside — she smiled when expected, greeted politely, and blended into crowds. But inside, she was carrying a storm that had no name. The people she trusted the most had hurt her in ways she didn’t know how to explain. Every time she tried to talk about what she had been through, her words collapsed inside her throat. She would stand in front of someone she loved, ready to speak, only for the person to be too busy, too distracted, or too uninterested. One afternoon she approached her aunt, hoping for a moment of attention.“Aunty… I need to talk to you,” she whispered.“Hmm? Talk, I’m listening,” her aunt said, eyes fixed on her phone. But she wasn’t listening.Amara felt her courage shrink again.“Never mind,” she said softly. Her aunt nodded without looking up. “Okay.”That was the problem. Everyone heard her voice, but nobody listened to her heart. She tried again with a friend, but her friend dismissed her pain with a playful, “Babe you worry too much. You’ll be fine.”Will I? Amara wondered. She carried her silence like a wound she had to protect. She began questioning her worth, her existence, and the value of her voice. Each unanswered cry for help pushed her deeper into herself. Nights became heavy, mornings felt pointless, and hope seemed too far away to reach. But even in her darkest moments, something kept her going — a tiny whisper in her spirit that said, Hold on.She didn’t know God was already preparing a turning point.

NOT MY WILL — CHAPTER TWO“Where Darkness Met Grace”Amara reached a breaking point. The weight of everything she had endured made her feel invisible. She didn’t think anyone needed her. She didn’t think her life mattered. She didn’t see a future where joy could exist for her.She didn’t plan to tell anyone how badly she was drowning — after all, when she tried before, no one listened. One evening, she locked her door and sat at the edge of her bed, feeling the heaviness pressing down on her chest. She didn’t want to harm herself, but she desperately wanted the pain inside her to stop. She was tired of pretending. Tired of being strong. Tired of smiling so people wouldn’t ask questions they never cared to hear the answers to.A deep darkness covered her heart……but before it could consume her, something happened. Her phone suddenly lit up with a message from a church member she barely spoke to.“Amara, you’ve been on my heart all day. Are you okay?”She froze. Then another message followed:“God asked me to tell you… you are not alone.”Tears she had held for months finally broke free. Not because the message fixed everything instantly, but because for the first time in a very long while, someone saw her. That same week, her pastor noticed she looked troubled and quietly pulled her aside. He didn’t ask her to explain anything. He simply said:“God said your story will not end in darkness.”For the first time, Amara felt something shift inside her — a small spark of hope. She started praying again, slowly. She opened up little by little, first to God, then to one trusted mentor. She learned that healing wasn’t fast, and it wasn’t easy, but it was possible. And as she walked through this journey, she began to understand something:Her life was not her own to throw away.God still had plans for her.And even though people failed her, God never left.
