Reads

Jessica, a teenager, is brought up in an affluent family. Her father works as an accountant in a leading bank. He is a drunkard and mostly an absentee parent. Her mother, an overprotective parent, is a housewife. She has raised Jessica, shielding her from things she deems bad, harmful, and unethical. She excels in her primary school exams (KCPE) and is admitted to a prestigious girls' school. Her rich father pays for her tuition and gets her admitted without strain. Before her parents leave her at school, her mother counsels her to be careful with bad peer influence. Jessica promises her parents that she will work hard in her studies and not let them down. At school, Jessica links up with girls who share her faith and values, keeping her mother's advice in mind. Through interactions with other girls, she soon realizes that a school, especially a boarding school, is like a marketplace with its own mad men and women. The girls talk mostly of wild parties and, of course, boys. Jessica is surprised by such talk. To her, such kind a reality only exists in the movies. She avoids these bad girls and concentrates on her studies. It is a relief for Jessica when schools close. Not only has she passed her exams but she was also voted the most beautiful girl in the school. Her parents are proud of her. During the holidays, she spends her time indoors, mostly completing assignments. She hardly ventures out without her mother. Every Sunday, her only rest day, she goes to church with her mother. Her drunkard father hardly accompanies them. He comes in late from work most of the time. Her cousins come to visit for the vacation. She is excited as the house is no longer lonely. There are people to learn from, shop and play with. Jessica has gone to her neighbour's house seeking assignment help. In the meantime, Jessica's cousins and mother left for a walk, leaving his elder male cousin in the house. Jessica comes home and ends up sleeping with the elder cousin. She realizes that she is pregnant. Her mother knows but does not inform Jessica's father. There is a strain in the family relationships when the father later discovers that Jessica is expectant. The family ends up separating. Jessica dropped out of school and eventually gave birth to a bouncing baby boy. Meanwhile, her father has investigated and got wind of how her daughter fell pregnant. He reconciles with his wife and daughter. Jessica gets back to school after a year's absence. Her child is taken away by the Children's Department. Despite the challenges, hard work and persistence, she passed her high school exams (KCSE) with flying colours. The family celebrates the milestone together. She joins a prestigious university to study law. After graduating from law school, she established her law firm, setting her mind to one thing: getting her cousin released from prison. Jessica has a younger sister. The pastor preached on education and encouraged parents to educate their girls. Parents praised for educating Jessica. Pastor wished Jessica all the best as she joined high school.
