“Why did you run little mate?”, he said and began walking up to me. Now that he stood up I finally noticed how huge he was making my apartment look even smaller and cramped. My head would barely reach his chest if I stood close to him.
“I’m not your mate!”, I screamed and I could see the hurt in his eyes. I ignored the delicious scent of my mate and the bond that tied us together, this was the worst joke life could play on me.
“I don’t understand why you hate me so much, why all the hostility? I won’t hurt you “, I gently said.
“I hate you with every fiber of my being, you may have forgotten but I haven't and I will avenge my father whom you killed the Alpha of the Blood Moon pack”, I barked at him. Trying to shift so I could rip his throat out and kill him where he stood.

The next day passed in a blur of calculated interactions and forced smiles. I went through the motions, engaging with the pack members, assisting Matilda in the kitchen, and even joining a group of young wolves for some playful sparring in the afternoon.
